Championship Race Information From Bob ChlupachThe ADMC “Championship Race” is the club finale. The weekend’s class races constitute the finale point’s accumulation for those members choosing to race throughout the five-week schedule. The top three placing drivers in each class earned points. To be eligible, a driver must have run at least three of the five races to accumulate points. Point cumulatives were tallied after the final heat of the two-day championship. The top three point earners in each class received a payout for their efforts. Doled out in the; 10-dog was $1,100, 6-dog $800 and 4-dog $600. In addition, the top three point earners in each class also received a trophy for their effort. Outside of the scheduled club point’s races, those drivers choosing to run “only” the “Championship Race” were not eligible for monetary awards BUT could earn a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place trophy, dependent on their performance. The awards presentation was held in the clubhouse at the track site. Prior to the awards, a good “old fashion pot-luck” made sure everyone went home with something under their belt. No one left early! The main course consisted of; goulash, lasagna, bbq hamburgers, and bbq hot dogs. Several homemade pies, which also did not last long, were not so politely devoured. The awards presentation followed. Junior drivers presentations were first, with trophy sizes exceeding those of the senior’s. The looks upon the junior’s faces were “priceless”, humbleness and great appreciation. Weather conditions: Both days; 75/25 predominantly overcast, very “slight” (5-10mph) wind from the North, temperature 24 F. Trail conditions: 8 inches of “new” snow earlier in the week. Temperatures during the week were too moderate for the trail to “set-up” after packing efforts. Cooler, more favorable “setting-up” temperature, in the teens, Saturday night improved the trail surface for the run on Sunday. Sledding conditions: Slow, loose trail on Saturday, firmer and faster on Sunday despite a loose surface. Temperature and lower humidity levels allowed for decent running conditions for the dogs. A “Big” way-to-go for junior club points winners, first, second, and third, respectively: 1-dog: Meredith Mapes. Zane Mileur, Doug Hepler 2-dog: no qualifiers 3-dog: Halvor Norris, Justin Crowley, Sage Shell 5-dog: Jasmine McQuown Senior club points winners, first, second, and third, respectively: 4-dog: Tom Moseley, Kathy MacKay, Kari Skogen 6-dog: Tom Moseley, Beverly Stevens, John Schultheis 10-dog: John Schultheis, Brenda Burge, Matt Hayashida
